Enhanced Timeline and Gantt Functionality: What New?
1. Show Project Duration in Gantt / Timeline
Sometimes, managing multiple projects can often become overwhelming, especially when the durations of various projects differ significantly. Tracking these timelines manually can be confusing for project managers, making it harder to keep everything on schedule.
With the new “Show Project Duration” feature, TeamBoard ProScheduler simplifies this process by automatically displaying the total project duration based on the earliest start date and the latest end date of all planned issues within a project. This feature makes it easier for managers to oversee the span of their projects at a glance.
Key Benefits for Users:
- Clearer Overview: Instantly see the total duration of each project, helping you to compare and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Improved Planning: Easily identify overlapping projects and adjust schedules to optimize resource allocation.
To enable this feature, simply navigate to the preferences in the Timeline or Gantt Chart view and toggle on the “Show Project Duration” option. This enhancement allows you to maintain a more organized and effective workflow across all your projects.
2. Task Grouping by Sprints in Gantt / Timeline
The new feature offers a powerful way for users to group Issues/Tasks by Sprints within the Timeline and Gantt views. This enhancement is particularly valuable for agile teams that rely on sprints to organize and track their work, as it enables a clear and structured view of all tasks related to each sprint.
- By navigating to the “Group By” option, users can effortlessly switch their view to organize tasks by Sprint.
- Additionally, creating, editing, or deleting sprints is made simple and accessible directly within the Timeline and Gantt view. Just click the plus sign to add a new sprint or hover over existing sprints to find options to modify or remove them.
- Tasks that are not assigned to any sprint are automatically displayed at the bottom as the backlog, providing a clear view of what’s pending and helping teams plan for future sprints effectively.
- Specialty, only in the Gantt view, tasks can be easily moved from one sprint to another through a simple drag-and-drop action. This flexibility allows teams to adapt quickly to changes in priorities or timelines without the hassle of navigating multiple screens or menus.
By grouping tasks by Sprint, teams can easily visualize the scope of work within each sprint, allowing for more effective planning and tracking of progress. This clear delineation of tasks helps teams focus on current priorities and streamline their workflow.
3. Bulk Editing in Gantt / Timeline
The new Bulk Editing feature enhanced Timeline and Gantt functionality. By simply hovering over the row of an issue, you can select multiple tasks simultaneously, allowing you to apply changes, such as updating colors, selecting an assignee, or unplan issues to all selected items at once. This feature streamlines the process of making adjustments across multiple tasks, saving you valuable time and ensuring a more consistent and organized project view.
With Bulk Editing, managing large projects becomes more efficient, helping teams maintain focus on what matters most.
4. Save View in Gantt / Timeline
Accessing your preferred Gantt View settings has never been easier. With the new improvement, you can customize your Gantt View by adjusting settings, grouping by status or sprint, displaying specific fields, etc, and then saving it with a single click. Just create your desired view, click “Save as,” name it for easy recognition, and save. You can also update saved views anytime.
Admins can create multiple views for the team, while regular users can select from these saved views. This enhancement allows quicker access to frequently needed information and enables each manager to focus on views that match their specific needs.
Smoother, Faster, Better with New Improvements
- This update brings enhanced functionality for directly changing task colors based on JQL color schemes when updating task status in Jira tickets. Simply set the JQL color scheme according to status, and then you can update the status in the issue details, and refresh the board the task colors will automatically adjust to match the new status. This will help you change task colors and status right in Jira Ticket without going to the Schedule board.
- Additionally, we’ve improved sorting in the Gantt chart, now allowing you to sort tasks in ascending or descending order, making it easier to organize your issues effectively.
- We’ve also streamlined the process for adding projects to existing programs. Instead of navigating back to the main board, you can now add or remove projects directly in the “Program Configure” section within Board Settings, simplifying program management.
- Lastly, you can now add all team members to an event at once, then make edits as needed. This enhancement speeds up the scheduling process, saving you from the repetitive task of adding participants individually for each event.
Enhancing Stability and Performance
We’ve addressed several common user issues to ensure a smoother and more seamless experience. The fixes in this update include:
- Resolved the inability to select multiple tasks at once.
- Fixed the issue where switching from Week mode to Day mode resulted in a blank space.
- Corrected the problem where the event modal remained open when selecting another event.
- Aligned the colors in the Gantt/Timeline view to match the task card colors accurately.
- Ensured that the “Show completed tasks” setting was retained after refreshing the page.
- Fixed misalignment of rows between the left and right panels in the Gantt/Timeline views.
- Addressed missing recurring items in the final week when selecting weekly or bi-weekly recurrence.
These fixes are designed to enhance the overall stability and performance of the application, reducing interruptions and improving your workflow.
